JULIA O'NEILL

lover of genre hopping, julia is a vocalist, pianist, guitarist and songwriter who is influenced by the 90s grunge movement, 50s-70s alternative and pop and classic rock. a flares-enthusiast and lover of the macabre, she's often seen sporting lots of jewellery
TOBY FLYNN
bass // guitar
keeper of the groove, toby is a bassist and guitarist specialising in funk. bringing melodic basslines and dreamy harmonies into our songs, as well as utilising whammy bars and mad effects. he's often spotted in brightly patterned, funky shirts and similarly bright corduroy jackets
DANIEL JACKSON
lead guitar
avid guitar hero enthusiast, daniel is a multi-talented musician who takes on the lead guitar parts of our songs. he's the newest member of the band, but brings a lot of depth to our music. always seen with his synyster gates guitar and often with a band tee
JACK STEAD
drums
bonkers jazz fills and complex timings are jack's thing, drummer for the band and jazz pianist, jack brings monster drums to our music. often coined as 'the jack attack', occasionally seen sporting guyliner and patchwork trousers
ABOUT US
We are Labyrinthine Oceans, a versatile two to four piece band consisting of vocals, piano, guitars, drums and bass from the Sunderland, Hartlepool and Peterlee areas.
We mix a range of genres in our original music including grunge, jazz, funk, rock and various other experimental and alternative genres.
We’re part of the Young Musicians Project in Sunderland and have recently performed at Sage Gateshead, The Customs House and Independent Sunderland as well as various other esteemed venues. We have also been played on BBC Introducing with our two studio demos, Liar Liar and Glory as well as on Hartlepool Radio with our studio demo Glory. We were awarded NARC’s demo of the month for their September 2021 issue with our demo Liar Liar, as well as featuring in the magazine two more times in October and November. We have also have had extremely positive feedback and reviews from peers and esteemed artists such as David Brewis, Bernard Butler, The Lake Poets and This Little Bird, plus many more.
